GnuAE is a an alternate energy system design and sizing
program. It focuses on design for the non-engineering person, with
additional features for the more engineering inclined. Using GnuAE,
one selects the various loads of a system, select photovoltaic panels
and other componenets via menus, and GnuAE figures out the quantity of
panels, batteries, wire sizes, etc...
Features
- Load Database
- GnuAE contains a database of many common electrical loads from
coffee grinders, to power tools, to high-end computers. It is possible
to have separate files for different systems.
- Component Database
- GnuAE contains a database of many components and their
specifications, which enables GnuAE to make accurate calculations on
system size and cost. It also allows one to do "what if" design by
easily changing components.
- Open Source
- GnuAE is 100% free software. For more information on the GPL, go to the
Free Software Foundation web site.
The primary site for
developers is on the FSF's Savannah server, with more information
on the project homepage.
